Raku Ceramics Workshop

All dates & times

Join teaching artist Sophie Nebeker for a two-part introduction to raku ceramics. In the first session, participants will create a hand-built ceramic piece such as a bowl, tile, or decorative object. In the second session, they'll glaze and fire their work using the dramatic Japanese glazing technique of raku, recognized for vibrant colors and unique finishes. No experience necessary. Designed for adults ages 55 and better. All materials included. Space is limited. Sophie Nebeker is a Salt Lake City-based interdisciplinary artist whose work spans ceramics, sculpture, metal casting, printmaking, and public art. She holds dual degrees in Art and Biology from the College of Creative Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and draws inspiration from the intersection of natural systems, material processes, and creative experimentation. Sophie's work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, Queer Spectra Arts Festival, and Sculpture Trails Museum. An experienced educator and workshop leader, she is passionate about making art accessible, engaging, and rewarding for artists of all experience levels.
