Join me Tuesday’s 7 pm for a weekly movement lab exploring theatricality, embodiment, dance history, and communal reverie. Each month we’ll explore a new world, idea, or genre within my dance lineage and repertoire. The class research will be shared publicly before class in an aim to offer the participants a richer artistic experience. Shelby Taylor is a Utah-based interdisciplinary artist, director, and producer whose work centers on immersive performance, emotional honesty, and community-driven creation. Trained extensively in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, ballroom, hip hop, heels, house, punking, vogue, pointe, dancehall, improvisation, Gaga, and Forsythe methodologies, Shelby draws from a wide spectrum of movement languages to create physically dynamic and emotionally resonant work. Her training includes institutions such as Northwest Dance Project, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Broadway Dance Center, Millennium Dance Complex, and BYU Contemporary Dance Theater. Shelby is the founder and artistic director of Fleet Cooperative, where she develops original process-driven works including Monomyth, Cabaret, GNAW (NYC debut, 2025), and Fleet’s evolving “living theater” process, Limelight. Most recently, she directed and completed Dramaturgy in collaboration with Junction Company. Through choreography, production, and mentorship, Shelby fosters collaborative spaces where artists are encouraged to experiment, challenge themselves, and grow.
