Intro to Embroidery

In this embroidery class, students will learn foundational hand embroidery techniques and practice a variety of basic stitches using original patterns designed by the instructor. Participants will become familiar with tools and materials, including embroidery hoops, floss, needles, and fabric. Open to all skill levels, the class offers a relaxing, creative environment that fosters mindfulness and self-expression through fiber art. This event is for 12 and up. Ally Rocks is a Salt Lake City–based artist with a passion for embroidery, sewing, and graphic design. Inspired by reptiles, motorcycles, and travel, her work reflects a love of creativity and exploration. She holds a BA in Art History from New Mexico State University and an MA in Design from Joshibi University of Art and Design, where she studied on an MEXT Scholarship. Her time living and studying in Japan continues to influence her artistic perspective and practice.
