Voices & Votes Presentation | Indigenous Roots: Restoring the Bear River's Ecosystem

Have you ever wondered what this landscape looked like in 1776? The Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation is working to restore the Wuda Ogwa (Bear River), returning to native plants to ancestral lands and returning water to Great Salt Lake. Learn more about these efforts and their significance at this talk by tribal elder Rios Pacheco and staff member Maria Moncur. This event accompanies "Voices & Votes: Democracy in America," a Smithsonian exhibition that explores the action, reaction, vision, and revision that democracy demands as Americans continue to question how to shape our country. "Voices & Votes: Democracy in America" is made possible in Utah by Utah Humanities and local venues around the state. Voices & Votes is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and State Humanities Councils nationwide. It is based on an exhibition by the National Museum of American History. Support for Museum on Main Street has been provided by the United States Congress.
