Sing, Speak & Read: Building Literacy Through Music

Guided by Kim Montano, Westminster University Director of Arts Education discover how music and arts integration can transform the science of reading into an active and creative learning experience. This workshop explores using rhythm, song, and children’s literature, to strengthen literacy skills. Participants will be immersed in practical strategies based on Scarborough’s Reading Rope and other tested practices while joyfully making music and engaging in whole-child learning. Relicensure certificates will be provided. artsFUSION workshops are free and open to teachers, school employees and administrators, arts educators and university students. This event is organized by the artsFUSION program at Southern Utah University and is funded by the BTS Arts Program.
