Serve-a-thon 250

Serve-a-thon 250 is a community day of service marking the 250th anniversary of the United States, with the money raised going to Grand County's first responders. It runs 8 a.m. to noon at the Grand County High School football field and track, and is hosted by the Moab Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Participants can walk laps toward a combined 250-mile goal, buy from a bake sale or donate directly. Organizers say 100% of the money raised goes directly and equally to local first responders, and businesses can pledge $250. A donation drive collects non-perishable food, especially protein, along with hygiene items — toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant — and packaged new underwear and socks for St. Francis Food Pantry, the Moab Valley Multicultural Center and Moab Solutions. The morning also includes music, games, food and a service fair. Anyone who completes the 10 acts of service listed on the back of the event flyer and brings the chart receives a reward.
