Stained Glass Workshop for Seniors

Local stained glass artist Danielle Hood will guide participants age 55+ in creating their own stained glass mosaic suncatcher. During this 90-minute workshop, participants will learn about Danielle's work and the art of stained glass mosaics. She will demonstrate glass cutting, shaping/grinding, and grouting. Each participant can choose to try these techniques hands-on or use pre-cut glass pieces. You'll be able to arrange the glass into your own design in a picture frame that can be hung in a window. Once you have created your glass design, you can either take it home with the grout and tools to finish your piece, or leave it to be grouted and picked up later. This event is part of the annual statewide festival Kaleidoscope: Aging with the Creative Spirit, which honors the creativity, connection, and vitality of older adults through performances, classes, exhibits, and community events. Enter the garage from 400 south or 500 south between 200 east and 300 east. Make sure to bring your parking ticket with you for validation! The workshop will take place in the old Night Flight space, just outside the east entrance to the Main Library. Look for the signs!
