Adventure Awaits: Trails, Sketches & Transit Treks! Get ready for a day of exploration and discovery! We’ll build real-world confidence by riding public transportation together to Zion, where we’ll learn the basics of nature journaling as we observe and sketch the world around us. We’ll also hit the trail for a fun, beginner-friendly hike. Along the way, participants will sharpen their observation skills, connect with nature, and gain independence while experiencing a new adventure. Whether you’re spotting wildlife, filling the pages of your journal, or navigating the bus route, this outing is all about trying something new, having fun, and discovering that adventure can be found close to home! When: Monday, August 3, 2026. We will meet at the USU Extension office at 7:50 am and return to the office around 4:45 pm. Who: Youth ages 12-18 Where: We will meet at the USU Extension office (Washington County Fairgrounds) on Monday, August 3, at 7:50 am. We will walk down the street to the SunTran bus stop, where we will board the bus to begin our amazing adventure. What: Enjoy a wonderful outdoor adventure before school begins while learning some basic nature journaling skills. (This activity will help you earn a couple of different challenge stickers in the Every Kid Outdoors Challenge.) We will provide journals, writing implements, some snacks, transportation, and entry into Zion National Park. Cost: $20 You will need to bring: a sack lunch, refillable water bottle, small daypack, sunscreen, and a good attitude.
