5% Day for Grand County Education Foundation

Join us on Tuesday, September 8th in supporting the Grand County Education Foundation! The Grand County Education Foundation’s mission is to seek out funding to support activities and programs that are offered to Grand County K-12 students to strengthen their academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being. The GCEF is organized as a public charity and recognized as a 501(c)(3), tax exempt entity. Their top priority is the implementation of programs, equipment, and materials that will have an immediate impact on all students in the Grand County School District. The GCEF feels that all students deserve the tools, resources, and experiences that will inspire and prepare them for a better future, and wants our our students of Grand County to leave our schools socially aware, culturally sensitive, academically proficient, and economically viable citizens of our community. Funding from the 5% Day will be utilized for: Academic activities and athletic programs Arts and music programs Scholarships Supporting school libraries Homeschooling needs Supporting major school or classroom projects Recruiting volunteers to assist children Offering teacher recognition And more! The GCEF receives funding from the following sources: Private donations Corporate donations Foundation donations Bequests Transfers Gifts Grand County Demographics Grand County School District (GCSD) is unique as a rural district serving a population that covers an entire county of approximately 10,000 residents. GCSD is comprised of a student enrollment of 1529 with a 50% poverty level and 128 students who are limited in English proficiency. Risk factors for students who live in poverty and those with limited English proficiency increase as students continue into middle and high school. Risk factors include: few support systems to assist with school work, belonging to anti-social peer groups, and unhealthy lifestyles.
