Utah Symphony Presents David Robertson Conducts Gil Shaham, Adele Anthony, & Orli Shaham – Finishing Touches Rehearsal DATES and TIMES: Friday, January 29, 2027 | 10:00 AM VENUE: Maurice Abravanel Hall 123 W. South Temple Salt Lake City, UT. 84101 SYNOPSIS: David Robertson, conductor Gil Shaham, violin Orli Shaham, piano Adele Anthony, violin Utah Symphony DAVID ROBERTSON: Light forming: a piano concerto SARASATE: Song of the Nightingale for Violin and Piano SARASATE: Navarra for Two Violins and Piano AVNER DORMAN: Double Concerto for Two Violins ESMAIL: Double Concerto for Violin and Piano Start your morning off right with a behind-the-scenes look at the process of bringing our concerts to the stage. Finishing Touches gives our audience the opportunity to observe working rehearsals; selections from the program will be rehearsed at the discretion of the conductor. In this extraordinary evening, artistry and family intertwine to create a deeply personal musical experience. Husband-and-wife violinists Gil Shaham and Adele Anthony share the stage with pianist Orli Shaham (Gil’s sister) and her husband, conductor David Robertson. This rare gathering offers a spectrum of musical collaboration and shared connection in the contemporary classical world, from Robertson’s luminous piano concerto (a “love letter” for his wife), to virtuosic works by Pablo de Sarasate, Avner Dorman, and Reena Esmail. As the artists unite in duos, trios, and double concertos, you’ll witness not only dazzling musicianship, but the unique chemistry and harmony that can only come from making music among family.
