Burning Horse Winter Solstice Celebration

Burning Horse Winter Solstice Celebration

Dead Horse Point State Park will hold its first Burning Horse winter solstice festival Dec. 19–21, 2026. The festival opens the night of Saturday, Dec. 19, with a Wicker Horse Lighting Ceremony on the hill above the visitor center. Rangers will lead visitors up the hill by torchlight, where handmade horse effigy crafts will be placed in the ring with the park’s large deadwood horse structure. Over the following days and nights, the park plans crafts, ranger activities and telescope programs on the sun, the solar system and the stars. The park says a full schedule will be posted on its social media. For more information, contact Ranger Jimmy Burch at jburch@utah.gov or 435-259-3791.
