White Mesa Ute Spiritual Walk to the Uranium Mill

The White Mesa Ute Community holds its 10th annual rally and spiritual walk to the Energy Fuels uranium mill, which sits just north of the reservation. A rally at the community center starts at 11 a.m., followed by a walk of about five miles on mostly flat pavement to the mill. Organizers say to wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. A limited number of vehicle seats are available for elders and anyone who can't walk the whole way. The community center is on the west side of Highway 191 in White Mesa. Turn west at the gas station and go one block south. Sponsored by White Mesa Concerned Community and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe's Environmental Programs Department.
