Americans Go to the Ball Game

Join us for "America at the Crossroads," a new series that invites us to think about how movies, music, museums, and more help us understand America’s past and shape our decisions about its future. Play ball! Come listen to Professors Matthews and Kimball talk about the most American game: baseball! They will dig into how baseball helps us understand America through pieces of pop culture that define the sport’s place in America: baseball movies and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” Come learn about the sometimes entrancing, sometimes troubling history of baseball and the wider culture it reflects. Panelists: Kristin L. Matthews (English) and Richard Kimball (History). Sponsored by the American Studies program.
