Cedar Mesa: Cultural Resource Protection

Volunteers join the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance and the Bureau of Land Management to protect pinyon-juniper forests and cultural resources on Cedar Mesa, within Bears Ears National Monument. Work includes moving natural materials, delineating campsites, installing signage and surface remediation. Note: SUWA lists this project as still in development — “THIS PROJECT REMAINS IN DEVELOPMENT” — and says the description and work scope may shift. Confirm details with SUWA before making plans. Difficulty: Moderate. SUWA provides dinners and workday snacks; volunteers supply their own camping gear, food, water and transportation.
