Join us for READ. RESIST. REPEAT., the official Opening Night Party of the 12th Annual Ogden Pride Festival! This evening marks the beginning of a weekend dedicated to visibility, resilience, celebration, and community. As we gather under this year's festival theme, RESIST. PERSIST. EXIST., we'll celebrate the stories, voices, and experiences that have shaped our community and continue to inspire us today. Be part of the official ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening of The Banned Wagon, a new community resource dedicated to expanding access to books and ideas. Meet local authors, browse displays from independent bookstores and literary organizations, enjoy live entertainment, participate in Drag Story Hour, and sign up for a library card as we celebrate the freedom to read and the power of storytelling. Hosting the night as our Mistress of Ceremonies is the one and only Lil Miss Hot Mess! A drag legend, activist, and children's book author, she's graced stages from SFMOMA to Stanford to Saturday Night Live, and is the author of beloved titles like The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish and If You're a Drag Queen and You Know It. She helped lead the fight against Facebook's "real names" policy and serves on the board of Drag Queen Story Hour. We couldn't think of a better queen to kick off our weekend! Books have long been tools of resistance, education, and connection. They help us understand one another, preserve our history, and imagine a better future. Together, we'll honor the stories that have challenged injustice, amplified marginalized voices, and reminded us that everyone deserves to be seen.
