Nitya Nritya Foundation presents Nitya Nritya Festival 2026 Day 1 September 11th, 2026 at 7pm Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center Main Stage Theatre Taylorsville, UT 84129 On sale: 7/23/26 at 10am Nitya Nritya Festival is back for the 10th successive year with a greater geographic footprint across the valley. Friday, 11 September 2026, 7 – 9:30 pm in Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center Run Time: 2 hours 20 minutes with one 15 minute intermission included. 7:00 – 8:15 pm: VILAASA – A spirited repartee with our higher self by the world renowned Praveen Kumar. 8:30-8:45 pm: THE UNSPOKEN – A talk by Praveen Kumar and Jyothsna Sainath on the shifting alchemy of shared aesthetic experience in Bharatanatyam. 8:45 – 9:20 pm: PUNAHA – Surrender to sacred incantations as we reclaim the feminine Divine. A Bharatanatyam ensemble presentation by Nitya Nritya Dance Ensemble. Saturday, 12 September 2026, in Kingsbury Hall, University of Utah (I) 11:00 – 12:15 am : THE ALAYA PROJECT – Experience a thrilling bridge between the intricate Carnatic style of Indian classical music and contemporary jazz and funk. Run Time: 75 minutes (No intermission) Presented by Rohan Krishnamurthy on Drum set, Mridangam, and additional Carnatic percussion; Prashant Radhakrishnan on Saxophone; and Colin Hogan on Keys. (II) 1:00 – 2:00 pm: A GATEWAY TO INDIAN CLASSIAL ARTS A free introductory lecture-demonstration with hands-on engagement in Indian classical dance and music, led by festival artists. (III) 7:00 – 8:30 pm: Rogue Gestures / Foreign Bodies Run Time: 75 minutes, no intermission. Followed by 15 minute talkback Explore the rich tapestry of contemporary histories of immigrant women on a powerful canvas, of migration, labor, memories, and belonging.
